First mission of 2011..

This month i have been on a quest of getting perfectly highlighted cheeks and a glowing complexion, so i did a little bit of research and went ahead and purchased these two highlighting products. The first Dior's Poudre shimmer in Amber Diamond, I had read a lot about this product and it all seemed to be praise. The second YSL's Complexion palette face highlighter, this one i stumbled across as i was browsing the YSL counter at my local Debenhams, I hadnt heard anything about this product but loved the swatch i took instore. These are two very different products with the same aim of 'illuminating the complexion and giving the skin a halo of radiance.'

Dior- Poudre Shimmer Amber Diamond £32

The packaging is the first thing that caught my attention with this product as it is sleek and sophisticated perfect for reflecting the high end brand. The product comes in a blue monochrome case with the brand logo in silver written on the front. The highlighter itself is made up of five shimmery gold tones which blended together makes the most gorgeous bronzed J.Lo glow! (anyone else obsessed with how perfectly glowing her complexion always looks?)

I like to use just the lightest colour on the brow bone and the center of the nose, and then all five blended together for the cheek bones. This product can be worn with a lot of different looks but i feel it works best when worn with warm tones eyeshadows such as Mac's woodwinked and Twinks.

YSL - Complexion palette face highlighter £37

This product comes in a metallic pink flip top case with a magnetic clasp and a large mirror on the inside. I like that this packaging is slightly different as the palette is pretty expensive i like the packaging to reflect that. The highlighter is a cool toned pink with a pearly shimmer and has the YSL logo engraved in the product. The best thing about this product is how wearable it is for day-time, it gives a more subtle natural highlight than Diors Amber Diamond. I like to wear this product with cool tones eyeshadows and pink blushers such as Mac's Ladyblush and Nars Pennylane.

I was undecided when buying YSL's complexion palette as i had only recently bought Diors Amber diamond and was debating whether i really needed two powder highlighters. However I'm very glad i did get both as they suit very different looks. I prefer Dior's for evening makeup as the product is very pigmented and contains quite a lot of shimmer, and YSL's for an everyday natural highlighter.
