Trend SS11- Colour Blocking

One of this summer's biggest trends is certainly not one for the faint hearted..it's all about making a bright,bold statement! Colour Blocking was all over the catwalk this SS11 from Prada and Gucci to Sportmax and now the celebrities are getting in on the action. After all this time of being told what colours we should and shouldn't wear together..red and green should never be seen..blah blah... we can finally forget the rules because this trend is all about the clashing of colours.

Celebrities have been opting for shades of yellow, red, orange, pink, green and blue paired with gold accessories, to create a simple yet oh so chic statement outfit.

The trick with this trend is to opt for light fabrics and layer, try a blazer with loosely draped hareems, or a bodycon skirt with a boyfriend blazer. If your not quite ready to make such a statement try the trend with your accessories, clash your clutch with your wedges or your ballets with your tote.

Is Kate our new fashionista?

Hi guys, It's been a while since i last posted, I have been extremely busy with work and took a little trip to London to visit my sister! Last week i found out i was moving departments at work from footwear and accessories to girls clothing which is extremely exciting and something new to get stuck into. I am a bit nervous about it but i only have 3 months left at this internship so I'll give it my best!

Since i haven't posted i haven't had chance to mention the Royal Wedding and how extremely gorgeous Kate Middleton looked. After much speculation Kate opted for Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. I adored the Victorian style corset under the lace long sleeves and high neck.

After the wedding it was a given that wedding dress designers all over the world were to create their own versions of this dress using the lace detailing but this past week i have noticed celebrities wearing lace for both day and evening wear.

Lace can be a tricky trend to pull off, wear too much and it can look extremely cheap and tacky. I think the trick is to wear little or mix it with another trend. I noticed Vanessa Hudgens wearing a full lace dress this week whilst out getting coffee...now the sound of that screams fashion disaster, but Vanessa matched the lace dress with a loose blazer, an over the shoulder satchel, and messy hair creating an extremely casual 'no thought' look to the outfit.

Mid-Length is in!

After years of lusting after celebrities long locks..aka.. very expensive extensions, and trying every hair remedy possible, including deep conditioning, lot's of water and hair growth tablets it's finally time we can ditch the weave because mid-length is in!

I've always been a fan of super long hair and would KILL for the likes of Nicole Scherzinger's and Kim Kardashians! After having a disasterous bob a while ago I opted for extensions as a quick fix..... and for 5 years I got completely addicted. It's not been till recently I've noticed quite a few stars have ditched the extensions or had the chop and opted for a healthier looking mid length style.
One of my favourite versions of this trend is Lea Micheles, her hair is so thick and shiny! Recently she's been wearing it in loose waves making it look at it's healthiest whilst still glamorous. Other celebrities who have been creating this stylish mid length do are Miley Cyrus, Vanessa Hudgens, Jessica Alba, Vanessa White and Cheryl Cole, all of which were previously known for there long hair, especially Miley who for years has had atleast 24inch extensions, reportedly costing up to £28,000. Not only does Mileys new look make her look older and her hair in much better condition..she's nearly £30,000 better off! (not like she needs it..but still!)

This length suits all face shapes as well as you getting the best of both worlds. It's not short so you can still do all different styles wth it, but its not super long which can often leave hair looking lifeless and the ends stragely.
I'm loving this new style at the mo, and have starting getting a trim and professional deep condition every 6-8 weeks. I now much prefer my hair to look thick and healthy.. although I have to admit I'm still not ready to ditch my extensions for a night out...some outfits just need that extra hair!

Celebrity bun craze

So a few weeks back i posted about some of the 2010 hair styles and trends and mentioned the high bun. Well since then it seems there has been atleast one celebrity at every red carpet event ditching the big blow drys and messy up-do's and opting for this sophisticated look. I admit it's definately a hair style that takes some guts, and not everybody is going to feel completely confident with their hair pulled off their face, but it's such an easy way to dress up a simple outfit and you'll be bang on trend for summer...so i say give it a go!

If you want to keep it simple try a smaller bun and wear it further back like Kim Kardashian and Nicole Richie, but if you want to really go for it...go SJP style!
