New Hair!

A few days ago i blogged about some hair changes i wanted to make (click here for the post) .. and well..here are the results!

I decided not to go lighter and to stay my natural colour, but i did go for the middle parting, and SJP style layers. I'm really happy with how it turned out!

P.S - Apologies for the posing!

Hair Update

As a few of you may know from twitter i have been looking for a new hair style and colour. I have had extensions sewn in for around 9 months now but had them taken out last weekend just to give my hair a break for a couple of months and to keep it in good condition. I'm planning to have them put back in around September/October for when i go back to uni, longer hair has always suited me so much better and after trial and error I've found the sewn in extensions are the best for me.
So for now i need a new style for my own hair..my natural hair is medium-length, dark brown, thick and wavy and after trawling the Internet i have found a style that i think should suit me.

This Picture of Sarah Jessica Parker taken from the sex and the city movie is exactly how i want it! Chocolate brown, middle parting, shortest layer just below the chin. I'll probably have to have around 2 inches cut off but that doesn't bother me if it's going to make my hair look healthy.

I have an appointment booked for tomorrow so fingers crossed this turns out OK.

I few pictures i found for inspiration (just style..not colour)..

John Frieda - 3 day straight

The newest hair revelation to come from John Frieda.. a semi permanent styling spray '3 day straight.' The product claims to 'Transform curly, frizzy hair into a straight, smooth style that lasts up to 3 days,' every girls dream right?
With my hair being naturally curly i have to blow-dry and straighten it everyday and with that it still goes back into a wave after a few hours, so to achieve my wish for long sleek locks i I figured this one was well worth a try. There has been quite a lot of hype around this product but after trying nearly every anti-frizz/curl product out there i was still questionable as to whether this one really did work.

The product is to be used on wet or damp hair using 7-15 sprays, after spraying i brushed through my hair to ensure the product was spread evenly, then blow dried my hair as usual. At this stage my hair felt completely normal, no difference at all. I then straightened my hair as i normally would putting it into small sections, it isn't until you have used the straighteners you start to notice the results of this product which the brand explains is the 'heat activated formula with keratin protein which wraps each strand to seal in longer lasting straightness.'

After straightening i was blown away with how amazing my hair felt, it was so smooth, just like when you get your hair blown at the hairdressers and you leave wondering how they always get your hair this soft and shiny, well this is the perfect product to re-create that at home. So....did it keep the curls at bay? The answer is YES! Finally a straightening product that does exactly what it claims. On the second day i woke up expecting to have to have to quickly go over my hair with the straighteners but it was still straight and incredibly soft. Normally i would wash my hair on the second night as i like to wash my hair every other day, but i left it this time to give this product the full test. On the third day there was still no wave/curl in sight however my hair as it normally would did feel slightly greasy on the top layers and did needed washing.

My results: Not only would i recommend this product if you use straighteners every time you wash your hair, I would also recommend it if your hair is feeling slightly dry and you need that professional looking shine back. And the best part is it's affordable and accessible at only £6.99 from Boots and Superdrug.

Little bottle of heaven...

If somebody told me they were to make my dream hair product and i was to choose 5 qualities this product needed to have these without a doubt would be..

Control the frizz

Add shine and make hair appear glossier

Nourish and treat

To detangle and make the hair softer

Stop static/fly away hair

Little did i know there was already a product out there that did all of this..and more!

I have been reading about Moroccan Oil for a while now, mainly bloggers and magazine reviews and i have always been keen on trying it as i have never heard one bad review, only reports of how amazing this product is. I went onto the companies website and read the actual product description ' Moroccan Oil is a ultra light formula which is absorbed by hair instantly resulting in a natural silky finish and brilliant shine...this product revives hydrates and most importantly detangles, hair, wigs and hair extensions,' ...after this...i was sold!
For anyone that doesn't know i have been wearing hair extensions for quite a few years now, and currently have them sewn in which means it is 10x more important for me to treat my hair carefully as hair extensions get damaged a lot quicker from styling and environmental damage than normal hair, therefore I'm constantly on the look out for new treatments.

To apply this product you only need to use a pea size amount, which hopefully means this 125ml bottle is going to last quite a long time. When hair is wet you rub the oil into your hands then run the product through your hair, i like to use this product from just below my roots, leave for a minutes or so then brush your hair to ensure the product covers evenly, dry and style hair as normal.

The Results: I am AMAZED by the results of Moroccan Oil, it has made such a huge difference to how my hair dries. The most obvious difference was how much softer my hair is, with it being quite long it often gets knotted quite easily but since using the oil my hair has been so so soft and rarely ever knots. De-Frizzing is one of the most important things i look for in a hair product as i have VERY curly hair, and no not a nice big bouncy curl , those really annoying tight frizzy curls. Now when i use this product and blow-dry my hair i would say it is 50% less frizzy than before and because of this it is so much easier for me to control the curl when blow-drying and straightening. My hair is now noticeably shinier and generally looks healthy and well nourished, i have never found a hair product to treat extensions as well as this.

Now the only downside is this product is a taddd pricey, RRP £38 for 125ml, however i cannot explain how much this is worth departing with your hard earned cash for, this product has literally changed my hair in so many ways.
I ordered mine from http://www.lookfanstic.com/ as they are currently selling the 125ml for £30.45 and offering free UK shipping and i was very pleasantly surprised as my order came within 2 days!

Has anyone tried the Morroccan oil treatment or any other products from this company? I am dying to try the Restorative hair mask now!

January Favourite's

Wow, how is it February already? Once again this month has flown by! This month i 'tried' a little spending ban, now while it didn't entirely work out i definitely haven't been shopping half as much as usual, and my purse has been loving this little challenge. I've really been enjoying using up products i had put to one side during 2010, it's amazing how many products you fall back in love with.

Here's a few of my January Favourite's..Enjoy!

Photobucket

1. A nude Lip - This month i have been reaching for the pink and brown nudes in my collection, I have been keeping my makeup fairly simple and focusing on the skin. My go-to nudes have been Mac's Creme D'Nude and YSL's Rouge Pur Couture in 06 ( Click here for a swatch of 06)

2. Winged Eyeliner- Now i have never been someone who wears eyeliner during the day, maybe a little gel eyeliner along the upper lash line blended, but never a full winged effect. I've always loved the look of a bare eye, winged eyeliner and a red lip, so this month i have been trying a few different winged effects and i have to say it's one of the easist things to do to create a completely different style to your makeup...maybe in February I'll brave the red lip!

3. 2011 Diary - Apologies..but yes i am one of those rather annoying people that loves getting a new diary/notebook and gets excited about writing all neat in it at the beginning of the year.

4. Long waves - So what if it's not summer yet, there's nothing i adore more than long glossy waves. If i could just have Kim Kardashians hair for one day I'd be ever so gratefull..please!

5. Kimono's - I've been favouring my floral print kimono's this month over cardigans and blazers, there comfortable, stylish and so easy to jazz up a plain tee.

A change for winter?

Over the past few weeks i have been thinking about maybe changing my hair a little as were now going into Winter. Autumn/Winter is my favourite time of year for fashion, i just love layers, scarfes, boots and chunky cardigans soo much more than summer dresses.
So as the trends are changing i thought why not give my hair a little treat! At the moment my hair is a medium brown, and for once i dont actually dislike it, but i just get bored so easily! I am still very undecided on what i want to do at the moment.. but one thing i do know is that i will definatly not be going light/blonde.. been there done that!

The past week i have been searching the web for some ideas of cuts and colours, and thought i would post some pictures on here and get some help! I havent seen many ideas for a cut/style i have liked so i'm still searching but a few ideas i have seen and liked for colour are; two tone, subtle highlights, highlights and lowlights of several shades of brown.

Mid-Length is in!

After years of lusting after celebrities long locks..aka.. very expensive extensions, and trying every hair remedy possible, including deep conditioning, lot's of water and hair growth tablets it's finally time we can ditch the weave because mid-length is in!

I've always been a fan of super long hair and would KILL for the likes of Nicole Scherzinger's and Kim Kardashians! After having a disasterous bob a while ago I opted for extensions as a quick fix..... and for 5 years I got completely addicted. It's not been till recently I've noticed quite a few stars have ditched the extensions or had the chop and opted for a healthier looking mid length style.
One of my favourite versions of this trend is Lea Micheles, her hair is so thick and shiny! Recently she's been wearing it in loose waves making it look at it's healthiest whilst still glamorous. Other celebrities who have been creating this stylish mid length do are Miley Cyrus, Vanessa Hudgens, Jessica Alba, Vanessa White and Cheryl Cole, all of which were previously known for there long hair, especially Miley who for years has had atleast 24inch extensions, reportedly costing up to £28,000. Not only does Mileys new look make her look older and her hair in much better condition..she's nearly £30,000 better off! (not like she needs it..but still!)

This length suits all face shapes as well as you getting the best of both worlds. It's not short so you can still do all different styles wth it, but its not super long which can often leave hair looking lifeless and the ends stragely.
I'm loving this new style at the mo, and have starting getting a trim and professional deep condition every 6-8 weeks. I now much prefer my hair to look thick and healthy.. although I have to admit I'm still not ready to ditch my extensions for a night out...some outfits just need that extra hair!

Celebrity bun craze

So a few weeks back i posted about some of the 2010 hair styles and trends and mentioned the high bun. Well since then it seems there has been atleast one celebrity at every red carpet event ditching the big blow drys and messy up-do's and opting for this sophisticated look. I admit it's definately a hair style that takes some guts, and not everybody is going to feel completely confident with their hair pulled off their face, but it's such an easy way to dress up a simple outfit and you'll be bang on trend for summer...so i say give it a go!

If you want to keep it simple try a smaller bun and wear it further back like Kim Kardashian and Nicole Richie, but if you want to really go for it...go SJP style!

Summer Hair

So i asked everyone to let me know on my formspring if there was anything they wanted me to talk about on my blog, and one of the responses i got was a request for a summer hair post. As I've already done a hair trends for 2010 post, I've decided to write about the most popular summer update for hair...highlights! Flicking through magazines this morning I noticed quite a lot of celebrities have lightened their hair for this summer, with either a few subtle highlights like Frankie Sandford or built up highlights like Audrina and Ashley Greene. If you're thinking of getting highlights this summer start off with just a few on your top layer of hair in 1 or 2 shades lighter than your current hair colour, you can then decide if you want to keep building them up to gradually get lighter. Quick tip- If you do get highlights make sure you are deep conditioning your hair at least once a week, as the lighter tones are likely to make your hair dryer.

Here are a few celebrities who have ditched the dark locks and lightened up for summer 2010.

Hair rutt!

Ok, so i decided to do a hair post, mainly because I'm getting sooo bored of having my hair in the same style every day (down and straight...down and curly) but also because I've noticed so many hair trends starting recently I wanted to post my favourites!

Side plait
Amanda Seyfried, Ashley Tisdale, and Leona Lewis have all worn this trend at recent events, and I have to admit..I love it. It's so simple to do and gives your hair an instant update.

Two-tone
Fancy a more permanent hair update? Forget your normal highlights and lowlights and give two-tone a go! It works with any hair colour and you'll be bang on trend for summer!
Quick tip - If you're trying this for the first time, only go 1 shade lighter than your natural hair colour.
